Typically we would setup the Manager Module during Implementation.  However, occasionally existing customers elect to have the Manager Module turned on in their database post-implementation.

There are specific steps to move away from pool level allocation of investment activity to Manager level.  The following steps align with establishing a go live date and getting beginning balances loaded and available for that date. 

1. Establish a Manager Module go live date
2. Create a test database
3. Turn on Manager Module for the test database in Global Admin
4. Lock the date to be the period before go live (Global Admin – Implementation settings – update lock date)

5. Review Manager beginning market values, make sure they are tying out to Pool and Fund values

6. Load the manager profile data
7. Load Manager Historical Market values as of the lock date

8. Check that all beginning values flow to the live period as expected.  Run the Portfolio Manager reconciliation report to verify beginning values by manager and by pool, checked against Market value summary report for fund level.

9. Once you've confirmed the setup works, make the same changes in the production database.

10. If the customer wants to track Book Value at the Manager level, we will need to load in beginning balances.  This requires a SQL touch that Jeremy’s engineering team can get done (Asana form).
11. Current open period should now be ready to reconcile using the Manager Module with beginning balances populated.

Keep the new lock date in place. Moving the lock date forward prevents users from reopening any prior periods. While we can revert it to the original date, we should avoid doing so. Keeping the new date prevents the customer from seeing the backend configuration changes we made (shifting them from pool-level to manager-level reconciliation) and prevents future errors.

Note:  These steps would be the same for Northern Trust customers who elect to start using the Manager Module and the Northern Trust Feed Utility post Implementation.  The first Utility feed would be the go live date.
