Balance Integration Options
Standard Integration Options
Exports
Custom exports are created for clients that have data in Balance that they would like extracted to upload directly into another system (general ledger is the most common). The most common exports we build are for Distribution activity, Investment Allocations by GLID, Administrative Fees, and Investment Manager activity (if using our Investment Portfolio Module). The customer will generate the exports in the Balance software, save the file to their own server, and upload the file directly into their software manually. See this article for more info: How To Create an Export
Automated Integration Options
Single Sign On (SSO)
Access to Balance can be granted via SSO. Our SSO is SAML 2 compliant and we are a member of the InCommon network. Single Sign On is set up by working with an institution’s IT department so that Balance users can log in to Balance through other institutional systems.
Northern Trust
Balance has a partnership with Northern Trust, a financial services company. Balance customers that have a relationship with Northern Trust can use a built-in utility to import investment data (either at the Investment Pool or Asset Manager level) from Northern Trust using a secure FTP site. Please contact Northern Trust for additional information. We have a full reference guide for Northern Trust available if you need additional information. If the Northern Trust integration has already been set up for your Balance database, then please see How Do I Import Northern Trust Data? for additional guidance.
SFTP Automation
The Balance SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) automation is designed to streamline your data delivery. While the system handles the heavy lifting of data transmission, there are specific operational nuances and formatting standards to be aware of.
Why Export Automation Requires a "User Touch"
Currently, triggering or finalizing certain export automations may require manual intervention from a user. This "User Touch" ensures data integrity and provides a final layer of oversight before files are transmitted to external servers.
We Value Your Feedback: Our goal is to eliminate manual steps and provide more granular settings for full automation. If your workflow requires specific triggers or settings to remove this manual touchpoint, please provide Product Feedback. We use customer requirements to prioritize our development roadmap and build out more robust automation features.
Supported File Types
Balance supports the most common data formats to ensure compatibility with nearly all internal systems.
Supported Formats:
.csv,.xls, and.xlsx.Coverage: These three formats currently cover 96% of the 850+ exports generated across our platform.
Legacy Support: Please note that we no longer support XML file types.
Formatting & Customization Options
To ensure your exports are "plug-and-play" with your existing software, Balance offers several formatting customizations:
Headers & Footers: Include or exclude standard headers and footers to match your reporting requirements.
Custom Delimiters: While comma-separated is standard, we support custom delimiters—such as Pipe Characters (
|)—to ensure files parse correctly in your receiving system.Variable Columns: Flexibility to include or exclude specific data columns as needed for your specific automation use case.
Please contact support.balance@evertue.com to discuss setting an SFTP feed if interested.
